Gotta Keep Dry – Highlighting the Ursuit Collaboration

Getting to enjoy the sea in all its glory is one thing, but equally important it is to give back to our source of life.

Sacha Remling is a Helsinki streetwear aficionado currently residing in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and working for Makia as a freelance foreign correspondent. Now that our collaboration with We Got Beef is out, it was timely to chat on past, present, and future.

Jussi Oksanen is one of the original founding members of Makia, as well as one of the greats when it comes to freestyle snowboarding. We had a chat with Jussi about his life and career after Makia.

Our Fall / Winter 2020 was shot at the architectural surroundings of Hotel Rantapuisto, originally built in 1963.  We chose this location because of the fascinating way it blends into nature.

Founded in 1982 the KNV boat club is located in the historic surroundings of Katajanokan Kasino next to our office in Helsinki, and was founded to promote local sailing and boating culture.

Makia, WeGotBeef and King’s Sex joined forces to support the well-being of the elderly people of Punavuori.

The Ateneum is Finland’s best-known art museum and the home of Finnish art. Makia is proud to have Ateneum prepare a very special exhibition into their Fokus Gallery. It displays the artwork behind our MAKIA X Von Wright collaboration.

Makia has worked together with Ateneum Art Museum and Finnish National Gallery on a unisex clothing collection featuring the artwork of the Von Wright brothers. With this collaboration, we want to highlight the cultural significance of the Von Wright brothers’ art and introduce it to both new and old audiences, in an unseen context.

Something that many of us can relate to during the past months have been solitary walks around the city, with time to reflect on thoughts and sights usually bypassed by the sheer pace of today’s life.

The Lasipalatsi building complex, where our Flagship store is situated in the center of Helsinki, has a long history.

Makia and Finnish fashion house Ivana Helsinki have worked together on a women’s collection celebrating the 20th anniversary of Ivana’s original camping themed collection that was first introduced to the public in 2000.
