Gotta Keep Dry – Highlighting the Ursuit Collaboration

Control is a pioneering Helsinki based skateboard collective from the 90’s, later forming into a streetwear brand. For this spring, Makia and CTRL are bringing back the labels’ iconic styles in the form of the ‘Powerhouse’ capsule collection.

We work together with Pure Waste textiles on our recycled products.

We come from a city built on a peninsula on the Baltic Sea, facing every kind of weather. Nevertheless, we think this shouldn’t take its toll on our composure.

We have stood long enough in cold rain, to favour simple and functional design that focuses on materials respecting the harsh Northern climate. 

The Island Camo pattern was created from nautical charts of the island archipelago surrounding Helsinki’s coastal area.

The sailors from 15th century used to oil and grease their sails to protect them from getting heavy and wet.
